Sculpture Class

Oscar Soto, a sculptural ceramic artist will teach 3 different projects for this 8 week class. Class 1 – a flower sculpture with petal making. Class 2 – 6″ x 4″ masks highlighting facial expressions. Discuss surface finishes. Class 3 – Dry brushing finishes practice painting on mask tests for your final sculpture using acrylic paints and guache. Class 4 – Roll out slabs, cut templates, assemble torso, attach neck. Class 5 – Start the sculpting the head. By this class you will need reference photos: Reference photos: • 5 photos taken of model from profile, 2 – 3/4 angle both sides of face, front facing, 2- profiles- left and right. They are to be taken with models head straight, hair up, no glasses, jewelry, or anything else that will obstruct the facial features. Make sure all features (including ears) are visible. • 8-12 photos of your model holding the pose you wish to sculpt from all angles (including back). These are used to focus on the pose and expression you wish to capture, as well as hair style and other accessories. Class 6 – Finishing Facial features attaching the skull cap, create hair. Class 7 Finalizing the surface texture and detail. Class 8 – Cold finish bisque fired bust.
