Refund Policy

Your payment reserves your spot in a very small class. No refunds are available unless another student can be found to take your place. If you cannot attend the session, the more advanced notice you can give, the better chance that a replacement will be found.  If you do obtain a refund, it will be less the 3% fee if paid by credit card.

Absence

If you miss a class, make-up classes are not guaranteed but are offered as a courtesy to students.  With prearrangement, you can attend a class at a different time or day during the course of your session.  Make-ups are not possible after your session has ended. You will probably not receive the same information in another class with another instructor but practice time in the studio is valuable.

Student Guidelines

WELCOME to ART ALLEY STUDIO

To create a happy place for all of us to make art, here are a few guidelines:

Please greet your classmates, get to know each other, and say goodbye on your way out the door. Art Alley Studio was opened to give all of you the opportunity to enjoy the art and craft of clay, to meet each other, and perhaps make a new friend. We enjoy the comradery and shared creativity of the people here. We are an honest and friendly group, ready to try the next cool form, and interested in each other’s story and vision.

We all clean up our own workstations at the end of class. Directions will be given on how best to do this task.

Music
If you don’t like the music, just say so.  We can all agree to a music genre or song. The artist is a sensitive being and is not expected to create masterpieces under auditory distress.

Tools
You need a set of throwing tools (leave your exacto knives, paring knives and scalpels at home). Art Alley Studio sells the basic throwing kit and has more tools that you can purchase. A courtesy cubby space will be provided so you can leave clay and tools at the studio.

Studio Membership

A few students are granted memberships to Art Alley Studio when they exhibit proficiency in the clay medium, responsibility with the studio space/equipment, and friendliness towards their fellows at the studio. Members of the clay studio at Art Alley Studio pay a monthly fee which includes a cubby box to store clay and tools, shared work shelves and kiln use, ample access to a bright, air conditioned art studio, work tables, pottery wheels, slab roller, extruder, cone 6 glazes, sinks, electricity, and the company of other artists. (No private areas).

Kiln Apprenticeship

Students and members who want to learn how to fire an electric kiln can become a Firing apprentice. You will load approximately ten kilns, both bisque and glaze under supervision. $50 for instruction + 10 hours of loading/unloading practice.
